Port of Melbourne recognises that sustainability is fundamental to preserving our social license to operate. What we do and plan for as a business considers environmental, community and economic sustainability outcomes to meet the needs of current and future generations.
As a landlord port in an inner-city area with a multitude of stakeholders, sustainability is important to support the Port’s efficient 24/7 operations and grow the Port to meet the increasing trade requirements of the Victorian economy. It also ensures PoM can deliver its long-term Port Development Strategy in line with the expectations of the community, government and other businesses.
PoM reports its sustainability progress annually aligned to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Reporting Initiative.
Sustainability Framework
Our approach for a sustainable future is underpinned by a sustainability framework based on managing risk and identifying opportunities that contribute to economic prosperity and positive environmental and social outcomes.
The sustainability framework is guided by three key pillars:
- Environment
- Social
- Economy
These pillars act as key drivers for how we position our business and underpin our future sustainability actions, including our sustainability reporting.
